Cheryl Obermeyer and Melissa Hayes are two staff colleagues from the Chicago History
Museum. Cheryl is the Vice President of Finance. Cheryl Obermeyer gets credit
for smoothing out the finances, while helping the Museum to solve problems and meet mission-driven goals. Melissa is the Vice President for External Affairs and led the 2006 rebranding of the beloved but aging Chicago Historical Society as the young and vibrant Chicago
History Museum.
The authors are honored to have had
help from Ted Beattie. Ted is the President of the Shedd Aquarium and one of
the true national leaders in the museum community. Another contributor is Tim Wierzbicki, the Chief Development
Officer of Human Rights First. Tim has held key management and development positions
with groups such as the American Red Cross and the Guthrie Theater in Minnesota. Tim also
was Chief Development Officer for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.
