The authors are grateful for the participation of four members of the
Chicago History Museum's Board of Trustees. John W. Rowe and Sharon
Gist Gilliam chaired the Board during a time of institutional transformation.
John, who is Chairman and CEO of Exelon Corporation, is truly history’s best friend in Chicago. Sharon served in a succession of top public service roles, including Budget Director and Chief Operating
Officer of the City of Chicago. Paul L. Snyder, the Museum's former
Treasurer, deserves thanks for guidance with fiscal discipline. He was Managing
Partner of KPMG LLP’s Midwest Area. Sallie L. Gaines advised the Museum's
rebranding when she was a Senior Vice President at Hill and Knowlton. Now a Trustee
Emeritus, Sallie is Director, Communications, for the Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies.
