We visited a wonderful bar on the main street near the pousada in Óbidos, Bar Ibn Errik Rex. Bruno, the young owner, is charming.
It serves the Portuguese specialty of sausages cooked at your table with flaming cognac. The bar claims credit for inventing
a specialty of Óbidos, "Ginjinha d' Óbidos," a strong fortified wine drink. The ceiling is festooned with
1800 small bottles of liquor, originally collected by the owner, but now many are sent from all over the world by customers.
The bar began as an antique shop, and it still is filled with antiques, but the drinks that the shop served the customers
were more popular than the antiques themselves, so it became a bar.
