Under Construction

A friend who travelled recently to Granada passed on some practical advice.  First, be aware that the traffic is very slow at all hours of the day, and that it is not easy to reach the Alhambra if you don't know the area and are driving.  His advice:  park your car at the airport outside of town, and take a taxi to the center of town or straight to the Alhambra.

He reported that a number of travellers found the auditape at the Alhambra, all taken from the writings of Washington Irving, as tedious.  Get a guidebook, but don't bother with the tape.

Best of all is to stay at the parador of San Francisco, which is right on the hill at the Alhambra.  Act early because reservations are hard to come by.  http://www.parador.es/ingles/85clicks/gran/granpaning.htm
