Flag of Norway, home of the Borreson family.

Bertina Borreson came from Norway and by 1860 was married and living in Chicago.  Her husband was Svale Larson.   Their daughter was Minnie Lawson, who married Olaf Anda.

Group possibly including Bertine Borreson
Bertine possibly 4th from right with daughters Minnie and Bessie at right

We know very little about Bertina Borreson.  In the photo above, we definitely can identify her daughter, Minnie Lawson Anda (born 1872), second from right, and her older daughter, Bessie Lawson Pederson (born 1861?), at right.  Both have wedding rings, and Minnie was married in in 1891.  It is logical to guess that the seated woman receiving the tea is their mother, Bertine.  If she was born in 1833 (but even that is uncertain), this would make her approximately 60 in the photo.  The older-looking woman seated at the left is another candidate, but there is a definite family resemblance between the first woman and the daughters, especially Minnie.  Could the boy in the foreground be Bessie's first son, Burt Pedersen?  It is impossible to identify the others, but there appears to be a resemblance between the woman at the left and Ingeborg Serene Kloster Anda, who was Minnie Lawson's mother-in-law.

Samuel and Bertine are buried in Chicago's Graceland Cemetery.
